The sign ups came in fast and furious. At over twice the rate of last
year. And the fishing has been good for big tuna. In the last few weeks
the tuna fishing in Cabo has been heating up. With a spattering of big
tuna in the 150 to 230 pound range being brought in over the last few
months, everyone was hoping that this year would be another big tuna
year. If things shape up as they have in the last few weeks it will be a
very, very fun tournament.
Here are a couple of samples what October has brought us.
In the middle of October on a dead small sardina near the inner Gordo
Banks Sergio Carillo and some friends hooked this giant Yellowfin Tuna
and after it became tail wrapped it was a 1 1/2 hour battle to bring it
to the boat. It weighed in at 335.5 pounds
Then a week later some of our northern fishing brothers, from Canada,
fishing at the Gordo banks landed a real giant of a Yellowfin Tuna. Cabo
John, Mike Nelson, and Ken Bond, using 80 lb. test line battled 4 1/2
hours to bring this huge Yellowfin Tuna to the boat. It tipped the
scales at 351 lbs.
So keep tuned in to see how things shape up and good luck to all the
fishermen.
